Obama, McCain or None of the Above?

I live in “fly over country”. My views, and those of my neighbors, don’t ever seem to be included in any political discussion. Even the terms used to describe us are irrelevant. Joe Six Pack isn’t a neighbor. We don’t carry pocket books. And, we don’t confuse health care with health insurance. The problems that the politicians say are those we care most about aren’t seen as solvable by the federal government.

We are concerned about our children getting a good education. The quality of public education has been declining since the federal government stuck their noses in it.

There was a time when we all had a family doctor. We didn’t go bankrupt from getting sick. Then we got Medicaid, Medicare, and trial lawyers and our medical expenses skyrocketed.

I remember when poor folks knew that they had a chance to become successful by working hard. Now they are just waiting for the government to pay them more.

It’s obvious to most of us that the economic crisis is caused by financial institutions giving loans to people who couldn’t afford them. There used to be standards to get a mortgage. But how can any government protect stupid people and stupid businesses? Why should the rest of us be penalized?

There is so much talk about Barack Obama being a socialist. He is. But we all have allowed our federal government to become a socialist state. It’s time to take back control of and responsibility for our lives. But first we have to pare the government down to an affordable size.

How do we do that? Vote no. Do not re-elect anyone. There are a couple of elected officials who do a good job. I’m not sure who they are, and they are not the leaders in their parties. By voting the incumbents out, at all levels of government, we let them know that they need us, we don’t need them.
