What’s All the Fuss About Fox News
Submitted by adale on Mon, 2007-09-10 18:43.
It seems that all the Democratic Presidential Candidates are proud of not appearing on Fox News. I don’t understand it. Fox News has the well earned slogan of “Fair and Balanced”. They go out of their way to be fair to all guests…especially Democrats. Their approach to news coverage reminds me of the old movies that depicted life as a newspaper reporter, “Just the facts please”. Now that doesn’t keep the news readers from over dramatizing a story by inserting the gratuitous “and some children” into stories about death and mayhem. They are not shy about teasing with the standard “More details coming up…” and then giving the same read with the same pictures repeated over and over again. But that adherence to the current, boring news broadcast tricks does not detract from their higher standard of information quality. The Democrats love to use Fox’s star host, Bill O’Reilly, as the far right wing symbol of Fox. They have obviously not watched Mr. O’Reilly. Bill O’Reilly is as close as any news person can be to a centurist. No, not Bill and Hillary’s definition of a centurist, but a centurist in the classic sense. He leans right on some issues and left on others. While he admits to being a Libertarian, that does not color his interviews. His questions are equally pointed to guests from both sides. The problem is with the Democrats who agree to be on the shows. They all avoid answering, or even attempt to answer, anything other than a soft question. It seems that the Democrats are rehearsed and maybe even ordered to spout the party’s talking points regardless of the question asked. »
