John Kerry, Don’t Apologize.

Just say good-bye. I know that it’s a political season. It’s always a political season, for the last 10 years. John Kerry seems to represent those pointy headed, left of the lefts that the old media guys love to hold up as the reason everyone should vote for democrats. That support for Kerry & friends is probably a strong reason that old network news and newspapers are losing their audience.

There was a time, a long time ago, when reporters were instructed to deliver the facts and not let their personal feelings color their words. That’s certainly not true today. Most newspaper articles introduce words like "might" and "could" into the first paragraph of every article. Most old network TV anchors do the same. Those words don’t represent facts. They signal someone’s opinion. When reading something that starts with those words, you have to wonder where or what the facts are.

We all know that Fox News on cable has been growing in leaps and bounds. If you watch it, you may notice that they seldom start a story with those words. While they have been accused of being part of the right-wing conspiracy, they do have a policy of being "fair and balanced". Editorially, they always bring democrats and republicans together to discuss news events. When they deliver news, it’s just the facts, good or bad for political parties.

If the old TV networks and newspapers want to grow their audiences again, they are going to have to do the same. They should all take a lesson from Bill O’Reilly and bring us the facts and let us make up our own minds. With political news, if you can’t take the spin out, let both sides spin. As for John Kerry, just let him be comic relief. Maybe his jokes would be funny if they were presented in the right venue...like the Sunday comics.
