If It’s Fun, They Will Tax It or Outlaw It.

The Bone-Heads in the House of Representatives voted to make it illegal for you to gamble online. Why? Because we all enjoy it and they can’t figure out how to get a slice of it. If they didn’t have control over who can open a gambling establishment in the U.S. Americans would own internet gambling today. Instead, internet gambling is owned by corporations outside the U.S.

These Bone-Heads must be feeling particularly strong after their stand on immigration. In addition to the ban on gambling, they also passed a bill that will allow all the big telecommunications companies to charge marketers a fee to deliver email to you. Let’s see, you get charged to access your email and folks who want to send you email also get charged. That’s a win-win for the big communications companies and the government.

I’ll bet, oops that’s illegal, oh well I’ll bet anyway that the government sees more than tax revenues from the communications giants in this. If this passes, it will only be a few short years before the U.S. Postal Service is given control over all email. If they also give the Postal Service control over internet gambling, we can all legally bet on how long it will take to get our messages.
