Gas Prices Are Giving Me Gas

Let's not forget that it's all their fault that we don't have enough refineries or domestic supplies of oil. For 30 years they have blocked drilling and put up bureauracratic red tape to keep new refineries from being built. They have also sucked up taxes on every gas purchase we've made. Now they are demonizing the oil companies for the huge profits they've made. Even with Exxon's record profits, they didn't make in as much as the government did. That doesn't excuse the oil companies. For years now we have all had to put up with gas prices rising, starting on Thursday and coming back down on Sunday night. We hear an announcement on the morning news that "traders have bid oil up $2.00 a barrel" and we find that that has increased prices at the pump $.15 before we finish our morning coffee.

It is true that we do like our cars, but so do the politicians. When was the last time any of them took the bus to work. Maybe they should be setting an example for us. One way to lower gas prices would be to lower taxes. Let's eliminate the taxes we pay on gas by eliminating the cars and related expenses we allow to the politicians. Let them walk to work or take public transportation. This would solve another American crisis, obesity. If Ted Kennedy, Dick Durban, Denny Hastard and their fellow fat heads started walking to work, the size of government could be greatly reduced and I can use their gas to power my SUV.
